Baby Sling Reviews At The Shopping Mall

I looked across the food court at the mall, and what I saw shocked me.  There was a gorgeous woman with long blond hair carrying a newborn baby.  But instead of cradling the child in her arms, the infant was in a baby sling carrier on his mom’s abdomen.  The kid wasn’t big enough to be a toddler.  No, he was under a year old.

Over her shoulder the mother had a diaper bag, and the child’s legs dangled in the kangaroo carry facing her.  The baby sling was probably a Moby or Maya Wrap.  I wondered if she had received the sling carrier as a baby shower gift when she was pregnant.

The stylish fleece was organic cotton.  I though it was a very unique and beautiful babywearing idea.  The high quality was obvious, perhaps a designer sling?  She moved the child from a front carry to a cradle carry to sleep.

My wife and I were expecting, so I went on my laptop to search Google for baby sling reviews.  I found the top child carriers on Amazon, and a few independent baby sling online stores.  I read the reviews and comments left by happy (and not so happy) customers on the ring sling, pouch, wrap style and all the babysling accessories.  Some had wild retro prints and baby patterns, others had flat rate shipping and some were padded for comfort.

Some baby slings reviewed were four stars while others complained that ring sling carriers were too complicated.

In the end we selected a Maya Wrap and a Peanut Shell baby pouch to test.  The wrap sling was a long single piece of stretchy fabric which swaddled our child like an African baby papoose style.  The peanutshell baby pouch was very different, but equally pleasant and useful.  Getting both hands free to get your life back after delivery and the privacy for nursing during breast feeding is one of the biggest advantages of baby sling carriers.
